I usually don’t like to start my blog with an apology, but I feel I must. Due to all the happenings of my getting my procedure settled this week, I am a bit late with this blog. I’ll keep it short and sweet, but hopefully will give you a small insight into working your Holiday shows.
The old saying goes ”if you’re going to make any money performing, NOW is the season”., and it’s so true! Christmas/ Holiday season is a time for celebrations and companies and groups are looking for performers. It doesn’t take a lot to get your Christmas/ Holiday show ready. With a bit of imagination you can be Holiday friendly with just bit of preparation.
Of course a good Holiday routine always makes a big difference, but the whole routine doesn’t have to be entirely aimed at for the Holidays. You can, of course, add small Christmas/Holiday references into an already established routine, thus making it different. But you can also dress up your props and vent characters with Santa hats, and brightly colored seasonal costumes. If you do magic with your act a magic wand may be a candy cane, a change bag a red and green stocking. I think you get the idea.
Take inventory of your standard show snd see where you “Christmas it” up. Your audience will think you did something especially for them. And in a way, you have !
