David has been an important member of the Maher Vent Community for years.  He and his figure Clara created delicious recipes that were featured in the International Ventriloquist Society Spotlight magazines.  (Which by the way – are still available for a limited time in high quality, full color print editions!  Check the home page!)

David shared this recent update on his Ad-VENT-ures:

My journey in Ventriloquism was inspired by Jimmy Nelson, along with the Maher Home Study course when I was 10 yrs old.

Then in my teen years, I was reading the Newsy Vents News letter, I read about Barbra Dewey who lived in a neighboring city.

We did Ventriloquism shows durring my last two years in High School. Durring college I was in an off campus ministries group as their ventriloquist and bass singer.

After graduation I taught in a child development center and used ventriloquism  to enhance the curriculum. Then I taught Cosmetology and had the opportunity to MC graduations  with ventriloquism, there were five graduations each year.

As an employeee for Walmart, I had the opportunity to do  walk around Ventriloquism. I then had the opportunity to teach  Cosmetology again and used Ventriloquism with the curriculum there.

For the last ten years while teaching in a Child Development Center I had the opportunity to use ventriloquism to inhance the curriculum. I retired after 40 years of working  October 31 of 2024.

Currently I am working on six scripts on Feelings and how to control them. These will be used for Day Care Centers summer camps  over this coming summer.
