I often travel by air when going to do shows and I’ve learned (the hard way!) that you can’t just fly using your regular trunks or suitcases and expect your act to arrive in one piece. You actually need to have special cases constructed so your ventriloquist partner arrives safe and sound. I had a special trunk made on wheels that stands upright and I can do my act out of it. I even went so far as to have a skirt made for it so it wouldn’t show the scuffs and scratches it receives when traveling.

Over all size is of great importance. I have found that an overall size of 62 inches (158 cm) is the the right size for checked baggage (I try to stay under that number …just in case!) and the weight should be under 50 lbs. (23 kg). Go beyond these dimensions or weights and you may pay additional money anywhere from $50. to hundreds.

I know of several different companies that make great travel cases. Anvil is one of them and has been around a long time. My favorite is Cabbage Cases from Columbus, OH. I have had my Cabbage Case for several years and it has been a great investment. It would well worth your time to look into a special case if you do any air travel to perform!
